In this assignment students will accurately machine a tag of material to a specified dimension. Find a tag and bring it to the instructor. With a vernier caliper measure the tag and demonstrate to the instructor your ability to read the material's size. The instructor will then give the student a smaller dimension that he/she will stamp on the tag.
Credit will be assigned based on the accuracy of the final component size.
A level 4 is + or - .002"
A level 3 is + or - .005"
A level 2 is + or - .010"

The trick to success with this assignment is measuring multiple times as you approach the final dimension. It is much easier to go under than staying over because there's always an inclination to keep removing material and it's considerably more difficult to add.
