Welding Exercise

This exercise involves welding a plasma cut die. Student is supplied with a pre-cut 18 gauge steel tag set in the form of a cross shaped material piece. They will bend the material with the brake into a 3" cubic die. The 'lid' of the die should be left un-folded until the cube has been welded internally. After the internal beads, the lid should be folded then welded closed.

Assessment will be based upon slag removal, weld width and height, weld appearance, face of bead, edge of bead, beginning and ending size, appearance of surrounding plate and weld penetration. (See rubric)
